Welcome to the website of the Montgomery County, Maryland Chapter, of Alpha Phi Alpha
Fraternity, Inc. The men of this chapter are dedicated to enriching our communities, while promoting the high standards of our great fraternity. Through our service, events and daily interactions, we are committed to upholding the high aims of Alpha: manly deeds, scholarship and love for all mankind.
We are community professionals, devoted heads of family, political, economic and spiritual leaders that continue to work diligently to influence the trajectory of our residents, our community and this great county in a positive way. For this selfless service, we have been recognized by many, both locally and nationally. Affectionately known as the “Monument Chapter”, we are also proud to be the birthplace and champion for the establishment of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial on the National Mall for our fraternity brother, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
As we appreciate the character and attributes that will ensure our community’s success, we continue to emphasize to our youth the importance of education, mentorship and community service. The men of this chapter remain dedicated to our national programs, which include: Project Alpha, Go-To-High School Go- To-College, Voteless People is a Hopeless People, Brother’s Keeper and our partnerships with the March of Dimes and the Boy Scouts of America. Our nonprofit foundations, the Alpha Scholarship & Charitable Foundation and the Smithville School Museum and Education Center, serve to provide educational and scholarly programs and activities throughout the community. We appreciate and welcome your continued support and contributions.
I thank you for visiting our site and invite you to further explore all that we aspire to do and be in
Montgomery County. We welcome the fruitful partnerships with our residents, community
businesses, corporations, government and mission-aligned organizations. For Brothers who are
looking to join a chapter with a rich history, active present and even brighter future, we invite you to check out the “Monument Chapter”.
