Welcome to the website of the Montgomery County, Maryland Chapter, of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. The men of this chapter are dedicated to making our communities better, while promoting the high standards of our fraternity. As you can expect, we are committed to upholding the high aims of our fraternity that include: manly deeds, scholarship and love for all mankind.
Since our founding in 1970 we have been active at all levels of county life. We are professionals, fathers, husbands and leaders who have shown up, and stepped up to lead the charge to make life better for the citizens of this great county. For this selfless service, we have been recognized both nationally and locally. Known as the “Monument Chapter”, we are proud to be the birthplace and responsible for the establishment of the Martin Luther King Jr. Monument on the Mall for our fraternity brother, the late Dr. King.
We continue to support our youth, education, mentorship and the importance of community service. We remain dedicated to our National programs that include: Project Alpha, Go To High School Go To College, Voteless People is a Hopeless People, Brother’s Keeper and our partnerships with the March of Dimes and the Boy Scouts of America.
Our nonprofit, charitable foundations serve to provide educational, scholarly activities for the community and we welcome your continued support and contributions.
Thank you for visiting our site, and I invite you to further explore all that we offer here as we look forward to seeing you in the community. We look forward to the opportunity to partner with like minded organizations. We invite all Brothers who are looking to join a chapter with a rich history and even brighter future to check out the “Monument Chapter”.
