Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is the purpose of the Scholarship Endowment Fund and why was it formed?

A. In recognition of the need for a sustained source of monies to aid and support the continued higher education of our youth; members of the Iota Upsilon Lambda Chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. began the process of creating the Alpha Scholarship Endowment Fund.

Endowment funds are intentionally designed to provide a lasting gift for our deserving youth. Building a permanent Endowment Fund is the best way to protect the investments we have made – and continue to make – in financing educational excellence and personal achievement. It ensures that we can continue to offer not only recognition, but some level of monetary assistance as well.

Q. What does the Scholarship Endowment Fund (SEF) do?

A. SEF’s mission is to raise funds and direct financing to support and enable academic programs, leadership / personal development, and scholarships.

The SEF is led by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. members who donate their time and talent to enable and enhance educational opportunities for the students in our community.
